Today’s Agra was known as Agravan (the border of forest) during the epic era of Mahabharat. According to Archeological chronology we can assume its time 1200 yrs Before Common Era (BCE). Mahabharat (The Great battle), this legendry battle was fought between two cousins, Pandavas(five brothers) and Kaurvas(100 brothers). In this time we come to know the name of Agra as Agravan. Ptolemy gave it the modern name Agra in 2nd century AD/CE. Claudius Ptolemy was a Greco-Egyptian writer of Alexandria, known as mathematician, astronomer and geographer. After the gap of many years, we find that an Indian king Badal Singh (sikarwar rajput king) established a fortress (in1475) at current site of Agra fort.
